I’ve gotten a little further. I’ve refined my perl script so that it gets data from various more reliable sources within GX. It’s been crazy busy at work but I should have the solution posted this week. 🙂 Read on for some screenshots.

An easy way to upgrade your filer is to issue the following (always run the upgrade advisor prior to upgrades to ensure you’re system is good to go to the version you’re looking for).

  1. download ontap from the NOW site
  2. load that file onto a web server (http)
  3. login to your filer from the console (rlm if preferred)
  4. toasterA> software update http://{ipaddress}/{version}_setup_q.exe -r
  5. toasterB> software update http://{ipaddress}/{version}_setup_q.exe -r

  7. toasterA> storage download shelf (Wait to complete)
  8. toasterB> storage download shelf (Wait to complete)
  9. toasterB> cf takeover
  10. … wait for reboot (10 min) …

I’m going to append to this my own version but for now, here’s the placeholder!

A major release for NetApp posted to the NOW site today, OnTap 7.3. This is a major performance release for NetApp as it starts to take advantage of the powerful 64-bit cores that NetApp has in their lineup of products.

I’m going to start to change things around. This blog will become more of a datacenter infrastructure site rather than a SMS/ConfigMgr/Scripting site. I’m going to change my focus on to storage, fiberchannel/ethernet storage networks, datacenter design trends, and high-level project overviews.

I still haven’t found alot of time to keep this up to date. but i’m going to try in the future to at least post one blog a week. Respond to this post with comments on anything you’d like expained and i’ll try to use those as topics to proceed.
