I had some fun at work today and created a 100TB volume for a project. NetApp’s OnTap GX operating system is quite nice and I can’t wait for the release that combines 7G and GX together. Here’s some fun screenshots.
Assuming you are running GX. I doubt it there will be a 7G and GX convergence anytime soon, due to the severe architectural differences. How do you like GX ?
yes, I know the major differences between 7G and GX, however they are currently working on merging the two together and have an expected release at the end of 2008. Now if they actually hit that goal who knows. 🙂
As for how I like GX, I think it’s much more advanced than 7G is. The functionality and additional things you can do with the software is amazing. There are a few downsides, but the positives outweigh the negatives.
